Join Clara (@paintedsoul and @rose_tintedrobin) to learn the slow but rewarding craft of punch needle to create your very own tufted ‘mug rug’ or hanging decoration. \nPunch needle is a fun and easy to pick up craft. The needle feeds yarn through the fabric\, leaving a loop which is held in by the tension of the fabric. This creates a 3D tufted piece –often used for cushions\, wall art and rugs! In this workshop you will be taken through how to use and thread the adjustable needle\, how to stitch your piece and finally how to back and finish the decoration. \nAll materials will be provided\, with your very own punch needle and embroidery hoop to take home alongside a booklet with tips\, hints and instructions to continue to learn this beautiful craft at home. \nThere are three designs available\, please choose which you would like to make at the checkout. We have the hanging ghost decoration\, carved pumpkin mug rug and for those not a fan of halloween\, we have a beautiful autumnal leaf mug rug. \nAs this workshop is held at a craft cafe there are also plenty of refreshments available!

DESCRIPTION:☆ Sensory Painting Meet ☆\n\n\nThursday 16th October\n\n\n10am until 12noon\n\n\nAt the crafty cuppa workshop\n\n\n£7 per person to cover cost of materials\n\n\nI will also be accepting voluntary donations toward the venue hire cost.\n\n\nThis event will be limited to a maximum of 12 so please pop a comment below to be put on the list.\n\n\nWhat is Sensory Painting?\n\n\nI paint a lot at home for the purpose of regulating and processing my emotions\, when I paint in this way I listen to music and apply paint to the canvas in whatever way feels right… I have no plan and let my senses guide me.\n\n\nI rarely use brushes and instead will use pallet knives\, sticks\, bits of paper or anything else I feel like to apply the paint.\n\n\nSometimes I will stick bits of paper or tissue to the canvas or use sand or sawdust for texture.\n\n\nIn this session I would encourage you to bring headphones and a device for listening to music of you’re choice…\n\n\nI will give a brief demonstration before we set to work.\n\n\nYou will each have a canvas and there will be a variety of paints and materials to use.\n\n\nFor me the purpose of painting in this way is to connect and get to know myself as a sensory being\, so often in life as a neurodivergent person I can feel like I have to stifle my sensory experience\, or that it causes me pain… and painting in this way brings freedom and joy to my senses. Like a little sensory holiday.\n\n\nOf course\, everyone has a different sensory experience\, so we will each have a different way of achieving this… my goal is to demonstrate my process and open the door for you to discover your own.
